Cows are Special.

Sometimes, Glenn's cows drive me crazy! And then there's Glenn. (Yes, Glenn drives me crazy, but that's not what I mean this time!) He really gets frustrated when the cows are knuckleheads and do their own thing. No matter how nicely you ask. No matter how angrily you ask. They don't want/need/understand what you're asking, so they're not going to comply with your request, no matter how you ask.

This is Glenn pre-non-compliant cows. He had me get off the four-wheeler because he was planning to "waller" through the water to get to the gate. I don't think he wallered as much as he imagined, but I appreciated the sentiment. I don't care to be splashed with mud and water unless I'm in a good mud wrestling match. Wait. I don't care to be spashed with mud and water. Ever.

This is the first attempt to move the cows where they needed to go. Notice they are walking calmly. You can't see him, but Glenn was following calmly on the four-wheeler. Later, both cow and man were not so calm. It took much running around, but we managed to force cow compliance.

It was fun. (Not really. )

Maybe next time. (Maybe not.)

Driveway Campout

We were supposed to go camping over Memorial Day weekend, but we wimped out because the weather report looked so delightfully wet and dreary. To make up for it, Glenn told the kids he'd sleep in our camper with them which was conveniently located in our driveway.

Here they are, ready to brave the wilds of Keuterville! (Mom: "Wait, I need a picture!")

Needless to say, despite perpetuating my known label of "Party Pooper," I slept inside. On my Tempur-Pedic mattress. I love that bed. Glenn says they'll sleep out there more this summer. I won't. Just clarifying.

Wine Tasting

We went on a much needed date night last weekend. The kids put themselves to bed for the very first time. We've left the kids for a few hours at a time, but never at bed time. The report the next morning indicated that all was well. No mutiny. No blood. We're definitely going on more dates soon!

Here we are, all dressed up for our friends' Wine Tasting party (cocktail attire, please!). The pick-up behind us is "all dressed up" also! It had just been washed, so we thought we better use it.

So for the wine tasting, everyone brings a bottle of wine to share and they provide all kinds of yummy foods to snack on. It's divine! I'm not usually a big wine drinker because I like my wines pretty sweet, but I found a couple I'd never tried that were really yummy. One was a "Special Harvest Reisling," and a crazy-named wine--"Gewurztraminer." I was delighted to realize that I had a bottle of that very same Gewurzt-whatever at home that I had been given as a birthday gift (thanks, Shirley!). I had no idea I liked it so much! Now I need to decide if I save the bottle for a special guest, or just drink it all by myself! I will report back on that dilemma soon!

Skadoosh!

We took the kids to their first-ever 3-D movie last weekend. Uncle Tony (my brother) is a big Kung Fu Panda fan and we all enjoy Po the Panda as well, so we met up in Lewiston for the premier weekend of Kung Fu Panda 2.

In my pre-blogging days, I wouldn've have dreamed of taking a photo of us in a movie theater. I'm sure Tony and his wife Paige were wishing I still didn't dream of such things, but my family is now used to me snapping pictures of everything we do. To my credit, we were the only ones in the theater at the time.

So, the movie was fun. If you liked the first Kung Fu Panda, you'll should see this one. The glasses were weird. I felt like I had my sunglasses on and had a powerful urge to remove them. The picture looks fuzzy without them, and I paid good money to get to wear those silly things, so I did! Without immediately going and watching the 2-D version of the movie, I can't compare and contrast them for you, but it was a good experience. Glenn and I wonder if a non-animated action movie might not be more exciting in 3-D. I'll do my homework and get back to you on that. Oh, the sacrifices I make for this blog!

1st Grade, Here we Come!!

Morgan had his Kindergarten graduation last week. They sang us a couple of songs, accepted their "diplomas" and ate cake. It was all very short and sweet. Those who plan the "real" graduations could learn something here. Don't talk much and feed us sugar. After receiving their diplomas from Mrs. Bruegeman, each child was asked to share what they want to be when they grow up. Several boys said Police Officer. A few girls said Doctor (rock on!). Morgan? He said Rock Star. Alrighty then. Rock star it is.
They wore these great mortarboard hats that they made the day before. They painted cardboard and the teacher glued coffee filters to it. They looked fairly authentic, but when they moved their heads--or breathed--the hats fell off. Oh well. Morgan was all smiles.

Go Vandals!

Ellea has decided on a name for her kitty--at least until she thinks of a better one! She decided his name would be Vandal in honor of her favorite Alma Mater, University of Idaho.

Our dog Zoey really enjoys having a kitty around again. She is so patient with Ellea's kitty and really seems to enjoy playing with him--claws and all!
He's so fun to watch. He discovered the cursor on my computer screen the other day and had a grand time chasing it around! We were watching a movie the other night that started out with a close up of a goldfish and that REALLY got his attention! It's a good thing we don't have fish. It's surprising we don't have fish. We have almost every other animal a person can have without a special permit!
