Glenn and I completed a 12K road race with 50,000 of our closest friends in Spokane, Washington yesterday. He ran, I walked. It's one of the many ways we are different. They say opposites attract.
This is our before picture. Then we split up and he went to the front of the pack to be with the other serious runners, while I moseyed to the back with my old college friend. We managed to carve about 20 minutes off our time from last year. We strictly walked, though, mind you. I might be a runner when I grow up, but it seems unlikely.
As a member of a corporate team, Glenn hung out and ate free food and got a free 10 minute massage while he was waiting for me to finish. I got lucky and finished in time to enter the exclusive corporate tent as his guest this year. I had time to grab a piece of pizza and get a massage myself. It was heavenly.
The famous Bloomsday t-shirt for 2014.
Mr. Fancy Pants himself! The poor guy had high hopes to train hard and carve a bunch of time off his race, but then he went and broke a couple toes and that put a damper on things for the past several weeks. Still, he broke his personal best time, so he did great. He ran approximately seven and a half miles with lots of hills in about one hour and 8 minutes (1:07:50, to be exact!). His goal is to break under an hour. There's always next year!
