Horse Shed

Glenn kindly volunteered to build our horses a shelter this year. Don't feel too sorry for them that they didn't have a shelter prior to Glenn's kindness. Horses in the wild don't have barns. They stand under trees just like ours always have. I've always dreamed of them having a shelter, but knew they'd be fine without one. Hopefully, they'll actually use the shed when the weather's bad. Who knows? They're stubborn sometimes.

Big Fat Fajitas

I've got to get some bigger tortilla shells for our Fajitas! There are so many goodies to fill them with that it's almost impossible to use the smaller taco shells that I buy at Costco!

We all manage to wrap our mouths around them somehow!

Peppers, onions, avocado, grilled chicken, tomatoes, lettuce, cheese........

Eye for and Eye

Warning: This post could be considered gross by some.


Ellea's science class got to disect cow eyes a few weeks ago and parents were invited to watch/participate. I told Ellea I was planning to come in for the dissection. She was happy to have me. She figured I could hold the garbage can for her to throw up into!


After my cadaver lab in human antomy at the University of Idaho (Go Vandals!!), I figured I could handle anything. It wasn't so bad. The odor was a little strong at times. I even helped some of the kids when the teacher was busy elsewhere.


I was very proud of Ellea for getting involved. They were split up into groups of three and I expected her to sit back and watch, but she did great! Not her favorite thing ever, but she got through it.

And I didn't have to hold the garbage can for her!!

First Snowman of the Season

It wasn't long after our first snowfall, that Morgan was out in the yard building a snowman. Last year he often begged me to help him build snowmen. This time, I didn't hear a thing about it from him until he needed a carrot nose. Smart boy. I think he's figured out that mom usually says no to going out in the snow!
Dad was already out there, so when Morgan came in looking for help finding stick arms, I sicked him on Glenn! Good daddy.

Zoey didn't even steal his stick arms for a couple days!

Baby Ben

Ellea always enjoys her time with small children, but no one more than cousin Ben. He's pushing 18 months now, but still as happy and agreeable as ever. He's just a delight to be around. We could all learn something from that kid!
Well, maybe he's not always delightful! He's not looking too happy here! I struggled to capture the perfect picture.

It may look like he's yelling in this picture, but he's actually trying to smile for the camera. A little cheesy, but darn cute! And then there's Ellea. She looks miserable, don't you think?

Girl Time!

I so often spend time with Nicole doing horsie stuff, and she and I went to that horse show recently, so I decided that Ellea and I needed some mommy & me time. We discussed our options and decided to spend a day in Lewiston eating out, shopping and getting our nails done.


We invited two of her favorite (adult) cousins, Christina and Jen. Those two opted for pedicures. Ahhhhh. Can't you just feel the delightfully warm water on your tootsies? Makes me wanna go stick my feet in the kitchen sink. Well, no. That wouldn't be quite as nice, I guess.


Ellea wanted a manicure since you can't show off your toes in the winter. If you're really tough, you can show off your toes in the winter. Or if you live in Mexico. Ellea used to try to wear flip flops year-round, because she's part Eskimo. She must be all grown up now, wearing sensible footwear in the winter and all.

I had an employee of the salon take this picture. I don't think photography is her thing. I love the massive gray wall over our heads!

And, the finished product!! Ellea's hands are on the bottom left. She chose a pink polish with lime-green tips. Very cute!

After some polish, we went shopping and then got a baby Ben fix at Dori's. The baby time was probably Ellea's favorite part of the whole day! I could've saved a ton of money and just babysat Ben instead!!! But I'm glad we did it. It was fun!
