Prairie Prom

This sweet girl already went to another school's prom this year.  She was supposed to have the same young man escort her to her prom, but something came up and he couldn't come.  She was thinking about going without a date, but was thrilled when a friend set her up with a boy from a nearby school at the last minute.  It was kinda her first blind date!  I've never even been on a blind date (and would never have wanted to)!!  Her self-confidence and moxie impress me regularly!

The theme for the prom was "Under the City Lights."  The annoying glowing thing behind Nicole's head is a street sign.  They make those things reflective, you know.

Around here, they have this fun custom called the Grand March.  People sit in the bleachers to watch the process of couples as they come out on stage, walk down the stairs, and come across the gym floor one at a time.  The gym is dark, and there is a spotlight on the couple.  It's fun for us girly-types because there are so many beautiful dresses and cute couples to admire!  But this couple was my favorite!

This particular girly-type-girl, niece Natalie, happened to be visiting us the day of prom, so she came along to Grand March.  Like many girls her age, she loves pretty princess dresses.  She was enthralled the entire time, and she loved every. single. dress.  Not sure what this face was about.  I showed her the picture and asked if we should take another, but she was satisfied!
