Ellea said her favorite station at the Farm and Forestry Fair field trip was the fully-functioning miniature sawmill.
It was very cool. This mini-mill cuts mini-boards. It was very similar to Glenn's family's old sawmill, and it was incredibly accurate! The guy didn't talk at all, but the kids were fascinated! They each got to take home their own "board"!
This station talked about all the things you can get from trees. The kids were surprised by some of the items. Cinnamon (the bark of the cinnamon tree), natural rubber (the sap from the rubber tree), even Twinkies!!! Cellulose is taken from the body of the tree. Can you believe that?! I knew Twinkies were bad, but c'mon!
