Mama Cows

You haven't lived until you've tried to sleep through mama cows and baby calves who have been separated against their will.

 Yup, it's weaning time.

That beautiful time of year when you rip the babies from their mamas and tell them to deal with it.

Now, granted, the babies weigh approximately 800 pounds by now, so one would the think the moms would say, “good riddance.” But they don’t.

I think they might say, “my udder hurts.” I can’t be sure.

But it’s been three days now and still they’re getting out of their pen to get closer to their calves.  And they're still bawling day and night, although it's slowed down a little (thank goodnes).

Their udders cannot still hurt three days later.

They’re just good mamas, I guess.
