Name That Calf

Lawn Mower, country-style

Got Milk?

We here at the Welcome to the Country Blog are hosting our first ever blog contest.  One lucky winner will have the honor of naming Nicole's 4-H bottle calf.  Sorry, no big prizes.  You can come pet her any time you want.  Really.  You come to the Idaho County Fair in August and get front row seats to her showing said bottle calf.  I kid you not.  How can you pass up this opportunity?  You can't.  This poor calf is almost two months old and does not have a name (not to mention that Glenn and Nicole regularly call her a he which drives yours truly crazy!)

A few details:
She is a Black Angus Heifer calf
She was born in March
When she was just a few hours old, Glenn found her buried neck-deep in the mud in frigid cold weather so he brought her into the basement to warm up and drink a few bottles of milk.  When she was returned to her mama over 24 hours later, said mama no longer claimed her as flesh of her flesh.
She REALLY likes her feedings and regularly wanders around the house at feeding time looking for a handout.  She's been known to climb the front porch stairs and wait for her bottle (less of that lately, which is a good thing.  Can you imagine if she kept doing that when she's 300 pounds?!)

Any-who.  Leave a comment with your calf name suggestions and an unbiased judging panel (my family--Nicole mostly) will pick one lucky winner.  So get your thinking caps on.  Talk to family and friends.  Brainstorm.  Get busy.

Alfalfa is a cute name...
Calamity Jane will work when she knocks down your door soon.
I'm sorta partial to Clementine (and would enjoy sharing that name with a sweet cow!)
Little Orphan Annie perhaps as she is abandoned.
Galena is a pretty silveryblack mineral that is a valuable lead/zinc/ ore and would be a fitting name for a cow that color.

PICK MINE!!!

Love you guys!

At first I thought she was chocolate in color based on photos. At that point my suggestion was going to be cocoa. But now with the change in color how about midnight or lucky.

Have fun picking out a name.
